  • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector Level 2. Start Date: 2020-10-25; Venue Online; News & Events. We are ERAM TRAINING and Certification. Saudi Aramco BGAS Gr. ERAM INTL successfully completed Saudi Aramco BGAS Gr 2 Painting Inspector Course for 20Saudi Aramco Employees.
  • Relied upon for over 50 years, CSWIP is a dependable source of assurance for the role-specific knowledge and skill required of industry personnel. Reliability Recognised as a benchmark by which to distinguish the competences of personnel; the CSWIP priority is to ensure the integrity of its certification and its certificate holders.
NDT Technicians are not 'WELDING INSPECTORS' they are what they are, Non Destructive Testing personnel.
They can assess a weld for compliance, visually, surface methods by - MPI, DPI
They can assess a weld internally by, UT, RT
I have been battling for years to have companies relying on people who have NDT qualifications, and putting them forward as welding inspectors, to not do this.
There is a 'Welding Inspector' Qualification and it has nothing to do with NDT as such.
A welding inspector must at least be familiar with the fundamentals of welding, and that is to be able to witness and prepare a PQR, follow this up with review and monitor of the paramaters being utilized during welding including welding consumables.
He would then carry out visual inspection for quality of weld deposit and size and if he was satisfied that the weld complies visually, and to the engineering design, he will request NDT to be carried out.
That's not to say he can't do both, but a welding inspector should be employed by the fabricator, and NDT should be carried out by an independant authority.
